In a recent update, YouTube has implemented a new feature allowing users in select areas to download certain videos from the YouTube mobile app to play offline.
How It Works
If you’re in one of the countries listed below, you can download select videos to watch later. The download lasts for 48 hours, after which you will need to reconnect to data or Wifi in order to maintain availability for another 48 hours.
How To Download A YouTube Video For Offline Use:
- Go to the video Watch page.
- Below the video, tap Download or tap More > Download.
- Once the video is downloaded, the Downloaded icon will turn blue below the video.
You can learn more about how to download for your specific device operating system, as well as how to update Download settings, download recommended videos, and remove downloaded videos on YouTube’s dedicated page for their recent Download Videos update.
