TikTok recently disabled being able to upload your own sound or music to their sound library due to copyright issues. Don't fret - there are three ways to upload your sound to TikTok and this blog will guide you how to do that.
Voiceover on TikTok Videos
Voiceovers for your TikTok videos can be done on the TikTok app itself. To do that, tap the plus (+) sign at the bottom of the screen to create a new video or upload an existing video from your library.
Once you have created or chosen a video, tap Next.
Tap Voice to record your own sound or to narrate.
You can choose voice effects or enhancers, then tap Record.
To start recording, long-press the Record button. If you want to keep the sound of the original video, keep the check mark on the Original sound.
When you have finished recording your voiceover, tap Done.
Tap Save in the upper right corner to continue editing your video and see the preview the video with the voiceover.
When you're ready to post, tap Next. Then, tap Post after adding captions, hashtags, link, and location.
Adding Music or Sound Effects
If you want to add music or sound effects to your TikTok video, you will need to edit the video using a video editing app or a separate video editing software, like CapCut. When using a third-party app to edit videos, you can insert sound clips, add sound, or your own music to your videos. Remember that the copyright rules are still to be followed when adding sound or music to your own videos.
Create Your Own TikTok Sound
A little trick to create your own TikTok sound and add it to the sound library is to post a new video privately on your profile. This makes the TikTok video not visible to the public. To post privately, tap Everyone can view this post before posting.
Then, select Only you. Then post! You will be the only one who can view the video.
When you are ready to post a new video and you want to use that newly created sound, just tap the lock icon from your profile and locate that video.
Select the video and tap the circle with your profile picture at the bottom right corner (this will look like a music icon for some).
Tap Use sound to create a new video with that sound!
Once you've posted your new TikTok video with your own sound publicly, other creators in the TikTok community can add sound to their own TikTok videos as well!
