YouTube has rolled out a variety of features adopted from Twitch’s subscriber reward program in order to reward YouTube channel members (subscribers who pay a monthly fee for exclusive content) and in turn increase revenue for content creators of the platform.

New Twitch-Inspired Perks For YouTube Channel Members

Gone are the days when YouTube subscribers had to hop over to Patreon to support their favorite creator in exchange for exclusive content and behind the scenes looks. YouTube has now integrated a selection of members-only features that Twitch users might be familiar with, including membership milestones that allows a user to send a highlighted message during a livestream which showcases how long they’ve been a member for.

For the uninitiated, membership milestones are perks that allow consistent, loyal members to benefit from recurring memberships. To clarify, on YouTube, a channel member is a paid subscriber. On Twitch a subscriber is a paid member. 

This feature will become available to paid channel members who are in their second consecutive month of membership, and includes the ability to include Super Chats and Super Stickers in their livestream comments. 

What Does This Mean For My Channel?

The good news is, the more channel members you have the more you’re likely to benefit with increased engagement. The more your subscribers see membership milestones in the livestream chat, and the benefits that come with it, the more likely they are to sign up for a membership of their own. Milestones also work as social proof, showing new visitors that your content is worth sticking around - and even paying - for.
